[Typical Properties]

Easy to dissolve in benzene and acetone, soluble in alcohol, ether, chloroform, carbon disulfide, and olive oil, slightly soluble in water, glycerol, 

and petroleum ether. It can sublime, and when the heating temperature is higher than the melting point, iodine can be resolved. It can evaporate with water vapor, giving 

it a smooth feeling and a stimulating and spicy odor.

[Usage]

Used for sterilization and deodorization of infected wounds, with long-lasting and non irritating effects. Iodoform ointment, iodoform glycerol, and iodoform paste can be directly used for purulent inflammation, as well as for root canal treatment and arsenic induced periodontitis; Iodoform gauze is used for filling the dead space of dry socket syndrome alveolar fossa, postoperative maxillary sinus infection, and purulent discharge; Iodoform sponge and iodoform calcium hydroxide paste are also used in pulp cutting surgery.
